Trio Dive March 2011 Newsletter
We have a few new arrivals in the form of a new club truck and some nice new Trio Tech polo shirts and jackets.
If you would like to purchase a polo shirt they are on sale at £25 and the Trio Dive polo shirts are still available for those of you that do not yet have one.
The jackets are £55 and need to be pre-ordered and you can have your jacket embroidered with either the Trio Dive or Trio Tech logos. The jackets come in either black or navy blue.
The jackets are a softshell jacket with an inner micro fleece layer. They are water resistant and windproof and have a concealed lined hood, full front zip, inner storm flap, zipped underarm vents, reflective piping to shoulders and sleeves, mesh lined zip chest and side pockets, two large inside pockets and a phone pocket.

South Coast Dates....We are currently looking at the following dates this year out of Brighton.
However, we have not yet made any firm booking with the skipper.
If you would like to dive with us on any of these dates, please give me a call or drop me an e-mail and I can then make a confirmed booking for the exact numbers who are looking at diving instead of booking out entire boats again. Once requests for dates have been made I can confirm with the skipper and check number of spaces available. As usual spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

As previously, if you book you are responsible to pay and there are no refunds offered. If you are unable to make the dive it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
We hope you can join us on at least some of the dives and we look forward to receiving your bookings.
L'EstartitWe are currently making the arrangements for a long weekend trip to L'Estartit in Spain. This will be run on Friday 10th June through to Monday 13th June. This is a really great trip and is different from the normal diving holidays we arrange. We try to put this trip together at least once a year but unfortunately, due to other commitments last year this wasn't possible so we hope that you can all join us on this years trip.
On this trip you will have the opportunity to do a little bit of cave diving which is really something special, along with meeting the famous doplin and diving the wreck of the Reggio.
The cost of this trip is around £115 for flights, and £130 for three nights accommodation plus your diving package. Final costs can be provided on request.
As small group of us decided to brave the cold and crack on with this years diving season and make our first open water dive of the year. On the weekend of 5th and 6th March we planned to travel down to Stoney Cove for two days diving. The group then dwindle down to just a few, either brave of very silly people!
The waters were cold, as Stoney always is,. but were not as cold as imagined. The waters were not very clear and even the fish though better of swimming around as there were none to be seen. The water temperatures were down to around 4 degrees at around 20 meters where we didn't spend too long as after ju
st 20 minutes regs started freezing and freeflowing, so we mainly stuck to the shallows where is was a balmy 7 degrees! Apart from the freezing regs, we had a good first dive of the season testing out all our new equipment and arranging kit for the coming, hopefully busy season ahead.

Red Sea Liveaboard Trip - July 2011
If your fed up of the cold weather why not book on to our next liveaboard trip and give yourself something to look forward to. It's actually only just over four months away and this, like the year so far will fly by.
We still have a spaces left and have made arrangements with Blue O Two to extend the deposit dates for us for a short time only. So for those of you that were still thinking of joining us you now have a little bit longer to make a decision. This option will only be available for a shot time so please contact me as soon as possible to make your booking.
The dates for your diary are 29th July 2011 to 5th August and a £290.00 deposit is due now in order to secure your place.
The total holiday cost is £1149 per person based on a 7 night full board basis aboard M/Y Blue Melody doing the Daedalus & St. John’s Safari. Included in this cost is 6 days diving all Egyptian transfers and visas, air fills and 12l cylinders and weights. There will be dive guides and instructors on board so all levels of diver are welcome.
As per the previous two years we expect the very limited number of places for this trip to go very quickly. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so in order to secure your place please send us your deposits as soon as possible.
M/Y Blue Melody
This vessel has been awarded the best liveaboard for 2010 by Diver and the vessel itself has two sun decks, 2 saloon areas, bar area, separate dining room and each cabin has its own entertainment system, en-suite bathroom and air conditioning.
The safari
The safafi we have chosen this year is the Daedalus and St John's Safari and allows you explore the beauty of the Southern Red Sea with the added bonus of visiting the marine park of Daedalus Reef.
Daedalus is a large, remote reef covered in hard and soft coral formations and offers beautiful scenic dives with an abundance of marine life. At the right time of year you can sit out in the blue and will have a good chance of seeing some of the Red Seas famous sharks!
Itinerary Highlights:
DaedalusThis huge reef rises from the sea bed in the middle of the Red Sea. Easily recognized by its zebra-striped lighthouse, this massive reef offers some of the most amazing dives in the Red Sea. The sheer walls are covered in over-grown hard coral formations and a variety of reef fish. Napoleon wrasses and turtles are often cruising by, but make sure you keep your eyes open on the blue! Daedalus is one of those places where anything can happen... oceanic white tip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, a lonesome hammerhead shark or schools of them. The excitement and the sheer size of this reef means that you can do several dives and not get bored!
Elphinstone Reef
A Red Sea legend. Elphinstone is a beautiful long reef with its walls, north and south covered in hard and soft corals. It offers colourful scenery and a very good variety of reef fish... the occasional visiting pelagic can make this dive site very interesting.Fury Shoal
This large cluster of reefs offers unforgettable and easy dives. From the northern site of Small Abu Galawa to its most-southern site of Sataya, Fury Shoal can prove to be surprising and diverse. Each dive site has its particularity: from dolphins, to stunning hard coral formations and not forgetting the two little wrecks, "Tug Boat" and the "Yacht". Often overlooked, its beauty and easy diving will be welcomed after currents and wall diving!
St. John's Reef
Located on the Tropic of Cancer, this chain of reefs is the furthest South you will get! All its dive sites are very close to each other which means that you can easily move from one place to another. It therefore adds a lot of variety to your dives: drop-offs, tunnels and stunning hard-coral formations. One of these dives (St John's Caves or Umm Kharalim) is truly unique and is a photographers heaven with rays of light filtering through into the beautiful tunnels. The reef formation is not the only thing that will stun you at St John's... the marine life and the colours of the soft corals are one of the best in the Red Sea. With any luck, dolphins or pelagics will join you on the dives and St John's will forever have a place in your heart.
